Interlibrary Loan FAQs

Answers to the most commonly asked questions about ILL.

How Will I Get Notified and Where Do I Pick Up ILLs During the Re-Opening Phase?

You will receive an email message notifying you when a material arrives, or if there are any issues with your request.

Students

  • Scans or electronic files will be delivered directly into your ILLiad account by a supplying library.
  • ILL Books may be picked up at the Circulation Desk, 202-662-9131.
    • Please note that though the Law Library suspended due dates, notices and fines during continuity, starting August 30th, fines and fees for damaged or lost ILL books will be enforced and ILL privileges will be suspended for delinquent loans or poor borrowing history.

Journals (requests submitted under the office account)

  • Scans or electronic files will be delivered directly into the journal's ILLiad account by a supplying library.
  • ILL books will be delivered into your journal mailbox located behind the Office of Journal Administration reception desk.
    • Please note that though the Law Library suspended due dates, notices and fines during continuity, starting August 30th, fines and fees for damaged or lost ILL books will be enforced and ILL privileges will be suspended for delinquent loans or poor borrowing history.

Faculty (or faculty proxy accounts used by RAs)

  • All ILL materials will be delivered to Library Research Services. That department will deliver electronic files to the faculty as email attachments and ILL books to the faculty's office or mail folder.
  • Please note that though the Law Library suspended due dates, notices and fines during continuity, starting August 30th, fines and fees for damaged or lost ILL books will be enforced and ILL privileges will be suspended for delinquent loans or poor borrowing history.

Staff

  • Scans or electronic files will be delivered directly into the journal's ILLiad account by a supplying library.
  • ILL Books may be picked up at the Circulation Desk, 202-662-9131.

  • N.B.: Do not submit ILL requests for a professor under your own ILLiad account. If you need an item for a faculty, please email the ILL Borrowing (law-ill@georgetown.edu) or Library Research Services (lawlibraryresearch@georgetown.edu) with the citation and name of the professor.
