Answers to the most commonly asked questions about ILL.

Notice

The library has undergone a website re-design and is currently undergoing a library system migration therefore hyperlinks on this research guide may be outdated. How Will I Get Notified and Where Do I Pick Up an ILL?

You will receive an e-mail message notifying you when materials arrive or if there are any issues regarding your request.

Students:

  • Books can be picked up at the Williams Library's Circulation Desk (202-662-9131).
  • Copies will be deposited into your ILLiad account.

Journals (requested via office accounts):

  • Books will be delivered into your journal mailbox located behind the Office of Journals Administration reception desk.
  • Copies will be deposited electronically into the ILLiad account.

Faculty (or faculty proxy accounts used by RAs):

  • All ILL items will be delivered to the faculty office, mail folder or to the faculty's support staff by Research Services.

Staff:

  • Books can be picked up at the Williams Library's Circulation Desk (202-662-9131).
  • Copies will be deposited electronically into your ILLiad account.
  • Note: Do not place ILL requests for a professor under your own ILLiad account. If you need to request an ILL for a faculty to use, please email either the ILL Office with the citation and the name of the professor.
