Global Health Law Research Guide

International health law began in 1851 with the first international sanitary conference and slowly evolved into the World Heath Organization (founded in 1948). There are currently 194 member states. 

• The Constitution of the World Health Organization Constitution, July 22, 1946, appears in 14 U.N.T.S. 185.
• Other WHO fundamental documents such as financial regulations, expert panel and committee regulations, rules of procedures and more are available on its website.
• The WHO’s Health Topics page makes it easy to access materials according to their subject.
• The WHO releases a large number of publications, many of which are available to download on its Publications page. Supports searching and browsing.
• Major players in Governance: World Health Assembly and the Executive Board. Documentation available and archived back to 1998.
• Two reports from Chatham House discuss reforms to the WHO and the global health system: What’s the World Health Organization For? (2014); Rethinking the Global Health System (2015).
