Journal Articles

Journal articles can be a good way to obtain background information about arms control topics and may help you locate citations to or the texts of foreign laws. Lexis and Westlaw provide excellent coverage of U.S. law reviews, but you will need to use additional tools for comprehensive coverage of articles published outside the U.S. For information on other journal databases, see our guide to Articles for Legal and Non-Legal Research.

If you already have a citation and would like to read the article, simply type the journal name as a title search in the library catalog. Note that not all journals available at Georgetown are available electronically, so be prepared to consult print journals if necessary. Be sure to check coverage dates or volume numbers to determine if your particular volume or issue is available. If Georgetown does not have the journal article, you may request it via interlibrary loan and we will ask another library to supply it as a PDF.

Major Resources for Locating Articles on Arms Control

  • Cambridge Core: Journals
This full-text database offers both law and non-law journals published by Cambridge University Press.

  • HeinOnline: Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals (IFLP)
A multilingual index to articles and book reviews appearing in approximately 490 legal journals published worldwide. This is the best resource to search for foreign language legal journal articles. Note this is not a full-text database and thus PDFs are not included for all results, so you may need to search the library catalog to identify the available options for the journal in question.

  • HeinOnline: Law Journal Library
HeinOnline’s Law Journal Library contains articles from most major domestic law reviews and journals.

  • Kluwer Law Online: Journals (Georgetown Law only)
A broad collection of international journals; especially useful for European Union research.

  • Oxford Academic: Journals
This full-text database has both law and non-law journals published by Oxford University Press.
