This guide focuses on the codes of professional ethics and ethics opinions available from the American Bar Association and various state bar associations. Contents of this guide include Codes of Professional Ethics and ethics opinions.

Model Rules of Professional Conduct

This is the current ethical code of the American Bar Association. It was promulgated in 1983 (KF305.A2 A4 1983) and has been adopted in some form by many states and the District of Columbia. An electronic version of the Model Rules is available on the ABA's website and Lexis. Annotations and other information about the rules can be found in the sources listed below

This annotated version contains the full text of the rules and provides extensive citations to cases, articles, and books discussing the issues arising under each rule.

Regularly updated - includes (i) an unannotated copy of the Model Rules, (ii) a list of the states that have adopted all or part of the Model Rules, and (iii) a discussion of state variations in the Model Rules. The Current Reports are an indexed guide to new opinions as they are issued and reports on legislative and administrative developments.‚Äč
