Case Law Research Materials

Librarian Andy Lang will cover case law research on Wednesday, September 6th, in McDonough 109.

Please view the case law video lectures before attending this class. The case law lectures describe a number of techniques and strategies for locating relevant case law including using secondary sources, statutory annotations, headnotes, keyword searching, and citators. Please also watch the video lectures on ALRs and Treatises, which will introduce two valuable secondary sources. 

The optional Case Law Tutorial provides additional background information about court structure, mandatory versus persuasive authority, the case reporter system, and case citations.
